How to become a WACC Member
We are not a yacht club, we don’t wear blazers and a club tie, and we have very few rules. Instead we have an ethos of fun and laughter to enjoy our water based social activities.
Our members do fly a club burgee (you’ll get yours when you join) so that we can recognise each other, and we encourage careful rafting-up of boats so that we can share moorings when space scarce. Our arrangements always allow us to dip-in and out as we please; we not tied to a group or offended when we do our own thing. We’re not a training establishment but do have a few experienced boaters who can help or advise should you wish.
Our members enjoy:
- The chance to meet and make new boating friends and like-minded connections.
- Land based events - Barbecues, Sunday Luncheons, Christmas Gala Dinner and visits to boating events e.g. Southampton Boat Show
- River Events - Up/Down river cruises in company to established events like Henley Regatta and Cookham’s Rock the Moor as well as quieter venues along the Thames. For the adventurous, tidal cruises to London and beyond are a regular feature.
- Knowledge Base - Members are encouraged to help each other share knowledge and skills on all boating matters of maintenance or seamanship. Our winter programme usually features a few casual training sessions too.
- Preferential treatment – Many local service providers recognise and give priority to WACC members
Whether you are new to boating or an old sea dog, we’re always pleased to welcome new members.
